Within Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi is a highly respected business leader with operations throughout the Kingdom, including Jeddah and Riyadh. He is widely regarded as someone committed to the continued modernisation of the Kingdom.
While initially concentrating his efforts in the construction and real estate sectors he started diversifying into the oil sector with major refining and retail investments in Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Morocco, Lebanon and Ethiopia.
An important current project in Ethiopia is his participation through Saudi Star, part of the MIDROC Group, in the development of 500,000 hectares of land as part of the Kingdom’s mutually beneficial King Abdullah Food Security Program (KAFSP). The close links between Arabia and Ethiopia, where most African investment by MIDROC is directed, go back millennia. The Sheikh follows an ancient tradition of building trade links between the two regions to the benefit of both.
He is also a significant donor to Saudi higher education with a special emphasis on healthcare.
